AUCTION CHANGES
In future we hope to bring our clients continuous auctions.
Previously we had some problems at the end of the auctions.
It seems that the server did not accomodate all bids placed during the last few minutes.
During a non-cyber auction, items are auctioned off individually. The item is not
sold until every bidder has had sufficient time to place a bid. Only if no more
bids are received at the end, the item gets sold.
We want to attempt to auction off our plants in much the same way.
There is however one important issue that we have to consider:
Because of different time zones in the world we are not all available to
to take part in the auction at the same time of day. We have made an
adaptation to ensure that everybody has sufficient time to place a bid
regardless of their time zone.
NEW RULES FOR THE AUCTION
- We keep approximately ten plants at a time on the auction.
- Every plant has an initial bidding period of 5 days. If a plant has not
had a bid for the last 24 hours (of the 5 days) it is sold. If it has
received a bid during the last 24 hours of this period, the auction time
for this item gets extended automatically for another 24 hours.
If it gets bid on again during this extra period, the time gets extended again
for 24 h etc until there have been no further bids for a 24 hour period.
Then it is sold. Not all plants will then sell at the same time and there
should be no bottleneck scrambling at the last minute.
- In the (somewhat unlikely) event that the bidding on an item carries on
too long, we reserve the right to make a cut off time for the bidding.
- Soon after a plant is sold we replace it with a new one.
- Because of the high transport fee, the buyer does not need to take the purchased
plants immediately. He can bid on new items until he has bought enough
material to ship. As this carries some inherent risk for us, we shall require
the address and credit card details of the bidder. After a period of two months
the items will have to be paid for and shipped.
- Although payment by bank transfer (wire) is acceptable, it is not recommended.
The banking fees of especially South African banks are extremely high and border
on theft. Payment per credit card is recommended.
